Purpose:

Work with the Moving Forward resident in their workplace to learn the skills needed to be successful on the job, such as learning the job, developing awareness of natural supports available in the workplace, and any other skills needed for success in employment.

Reports to:

Employment Program Manager

Qualifications:

  1. Clean driving record and proof of insurance.

  2. Clear criminal background.

  3. First Aid certification.

  4. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet resident needs. This position requires a flexible schedule. including weekends and some evening hours.

  5. (Preferred) Two years’ experience working with adults with learning/developmental disabilities.  

Responsibilities:

Providing one-on-one job training for workers placed into community integrated supported employment or volunteer work sites.  Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with community employers, employees, individuals and other supported-employment program staff.  

Training responsibilities:

Work with the resident supported by MFTI to learn skills to be successful on the job, learning the job, develop natural supports and any other skills for employment.

  • Reach out to employers, supervisors to follow-up on work-related issues.

  • Work with residents to be job-ready, practice interview skills, and help build confidence along with self-advocacy skills..

  • Assist residents, when appropriate, to identify natural job supports.

  • Maintain individual daily case notes, write daily emails, and any reports needed. 

  • Responsible to maintain daily job coach notes for assigned residents.

  • Work and train residents to maintain quality control and safety standards on job sites.

  • Assist residents, when appropriate, to learn and follow all employer policies and procedures.

  • Provide support to assist residents to learn processes to complete timecards, request time off, etc.

  • Train and work with residents, when necessary, to learn how to interact successfully with others.

  • Work with residents to find ways to get to where they need to go (as it pertains to their job) and provide training when necessary.

Other expectations:

  • Promote good public relations in the community both for the program and the people supported by the program.

  • Solve problems and communicate solutions with the supervisor.

  • Be familiar with and adhere to program Mission Statement and philosophies. Follow program policies and procedures.

  • On behalf of the MFTI, help create a working environment that encourages teamwork and work as a team member.

  • Interact, communicate and cooperate well with coworkers, supervisors, subordinates and residents.

  • Ensure follow-through of all safety procedures, responsibilities and assigned tasks.

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.

  • Champion and share new ideas, processes and programs.

  • Take personal responsibility for actions.

  • Provide good customer service.
