Purpose:

Support Moving Forward employment program. Provide small-group job training for residents. Assist residents with community-integrated supported employment or volunteer work sites. Collaborate with community employers, employees, individuals, and other supported employment program staff.

Reports to:

Employment Program Manager

Qualifications:

  1. Clean driving record and proof of insurance.

  2. Clear criminal background.

  3. First Aid certification.

  4. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet resident needs. This position requires a flexible schedule. including weekends and some evening hours.

  5. Good knowledge of standard Office applications.

  6. (Preferred) Two years’ experience working with adults with learning or developmental disabilities.  

Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Manager of the Moving Forward Employment Program to manage job-skills classes, resident interviews, employer outreach, and emails and reports as assigned. Support program’s Job Coaches as needed.

  • Teach job-readiness classes from prepared materials

  • Work with residents to be job ready, including practicing interview skills, helping with resume development and updates, and building residents’ confidence.

  • Teach self-advocacy skills to the program residents.

  • Champion and share new ideas, processes and programs.

  • Enjoy working in various settings in the community, including working with animals, children, and retail sites.

  • Ability and willingness to implement supported employment concepts and techniques including customized employment.

  • Ability and willingness to implement person-centered thinking skills and outcomes.

  • Ability and willingness to assist in adherence to Department of Labor Regulations.

  • Ability and willingness to implement one-to-one and group training techniques and analyze jobs.

  • Understand the work and tasks of Job Coaches and be able to stand in for absent job coaches if needed. (See Job Coach job description.)

  • Support the Job Coach in reaching out to employers, supervisors to follow-up on work-related issues.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Commit to regular attendance and punctuality.

  • Promote good public relations in the community both for the program and the people supported by the program.

  • Be familiar with and adhere to program Mission Statement and philosophies. Follow program policies and procedures.

  • Take personal responsibility for actions.

  • Provide good customer service.
